Decent pocket chrono -- without the special black or red case and with some normal wear and tear -- will usually go for around $1,000; the very best ones, in the red case, can fetch something in the $3,000 range.
In my experience, these old things can be amazing runners, often after years of sitting in the drawer. Mechanically, it's a split second version of the Super Autavia . . . in terms of the connection to racing, this is the real thing, often used by the rally organizers for the work at the checkpoints. I think they are bargains, in general; at $299, a bargain that makes it worth missing some sleep.
