Hi Philippe,
generally speaking, we have invested a lot of money and time in building the Haslinger collection. Further we have shown in cooperation with TAG Heuer, I have given away one of my Silverstones to Leonardo di Caprio Green Cross foundation. We experience now as the train was succesful a lot of people, who want to jump on it mainly for personal resaons to make some money or some try to make their names as specialists more known to a broader audience. Most of these me toos have not been suportive, when we were touring for a year with Bonhams car department to present Heuer watches to a broader audience of people. On the other side there had been some good friends, who supported us like Jeff, Rich, Jasper, Paul, Ben, my friends from Vintage Heuer, the Paris connection and David with Calibre 11.....
You have picked a Carrera from my auction, which does not have much in common with the watch you are offering ? Hence what do think is your offer good for the Haslinger collection and the price we have achieved for our top quality unpolished watch ? Is it good for your personal listing using the Bonhams/ Haslinger collection built brand name, I would guess so !
Normally it is standard procedure to ask before you use a brand name built by others. It is also normal if press writes an article that our press department gets some content info prior publishing. We will be very rigid in the future about misusing as we have great plans for the future to continue with our beloved vintage Heuers.
Best Arno
: Hi to everyone,
: It was brought to my attention that one of my latest ebay listing
: brings some attention on Jeff’s great forum.
: I do not wish to pass on the wrong message by placing a link to the
: Bonhams auction, ... I do not expect an $8,000 sell, (though
: would be happy ;-) ...I did so for reference only. The Dec 15th
: Bonhams auction was quite a collection offered and a will serve
: as a reference in the future for trades between collectors and
: traders, as the Omegamania did for Omega. My Carrera example is
: not as mint, it has a couple replacement parts as various
: knowledgeable Heuer enthusiasts pointed out, but it remains a
: very clean example, and I believe that clean 1960s Carreras are
: getting scarce on the market. On eBay alone, we used to see one
: or two every week or ten days, less than 2 years ago. I bought 4
: at once in Paris 2 years ago.... When was the last clean example
: listed ?
: I am personally very fond of Chronos and a Carrera remains a
: "grail" in one's brand diversified collection, even if
: not the rarest Carrera, so please be informed I will remove the
: watch if it does not reach a reasonable price for me, ... not
: $8,000, (though I would obviously be happy ;-) yet neither will
: I let it go at $2,000. I personally value it quite a bit more,
: and most people should I think. Vintage watches, rare and
: desired examples, are getting scarce to get, both for collectors
: as well as for traders, and being both, I will take care of this
: fine example.
: Again, I trust I did not offend anyone with the short details and
: references in my listing, and will not should I cancel the eBay
: listing early, it is by no mean my intention.
: If I can help further, additional pictures, details, information,
: feel free to e-mail me. exoticwatches.net@gmail.com or by
: phone at +(34) 666 530 431.
: Sincere regards,
: Philippe
