We have previously entertained the suggestion that these hands were "transitional" between the early ones (squared tips) and standard production hands (with triangular tips), but we dismissed this idea, based on seeing the red hands across a braod range of serial numbers. This suggests that they were service hands issued to the field by Heuer (or perhaps made and abandoned by Heuer, and somehow used by private watchmakers). Send me your SN, or post it here, and we can see what these 6 little numbers might tell us.
It's a great looking watch, in any instance.

: Interesting thing about these hands is that they look like a
: transition from Chronomatic/Trans (early) hands to standard
: Monaco hands (later). The lower section closer to the centre are
: flat, plain steel and with the proportion of the lume they are
: reminiscent of the early hands. The pointed tips are as per the
: later hands. The confusing bit is the addition of the red detail
: with no relevance to either. Just my first impression.
