I tend to think of Georgia having a similar climate to Florida, but then I guess Atlanta's a fair bit more northerly and at higher elevation than pretty much anywhere in Florida.
You might have a lot of silver maples there - pretty tree but very brittle wood and notorious for throwing branches off at the slightest sign of inclement weather though much better behaved in Europe, where we still often use them as street trees.
