Ouch. Your brother should probably have added a 0 to what he sold the watch for and on a good day might have made a bit more. Assuming it was running ok, that is, and even if it wasn't, a couple of hundred on a service would have yielded a decent return. But you don't have to tell him that now!
I amended the title of my reply to see if we can get a recommendation, we have a couple of contributors in and around NYC. Replacement crystals are hard to find but as these are actually plexiglass, you'd be surprised what can be achieved with some careful polishing.
