An example from the watch world is Universal Geneve. I have a passing interest in the brand but what I do know is that anything beyond the early 1970's pales in comparison the product launched up to that point. It changed hands over the years and I read somewhere that they are in fact still around which came as quite a surprise. Zenith may be another of the great Swiss brands that floundered in the lean years but at least this one has come back to life thanks to LVMH and the trend for re-editions.
