I like the move away from external bezels, which never had anything to do with classic Carreras.
I think the guilloché and arabics are a bit overdone for a Carrera, they don't espouse simplicity and clarity for me. And the blued hands and numerals on the silver dial looks a bit garish, I prefer the one in black. So I like the casework, but I think there is still some way to go down the less is more route where the dials are concerned.
When they did really pare down the excess detailing on the Carrera 1887, they later backed down a bit and added some more back in :s
The middle execution of the 1887 is the nicest looking in my eyes, all the extraneous detail has been removed, where the latest version has ended up fussier by putting some of it back in.
