Just when you think you have seen it all, something new comes along. I was recently presented with this unique Autavia dial by Rich as a thank you for some photographs I did for him. I was thrilled as I had not seen this dial before. It has a mat black surface, tachy ring and raised metal hour markers (including the 12 and 6) with a triangular lume plot. It would be unique for Heuer to have the tachymeter scale printed on the dial in a case with a rotating bezel. It is similar to the third execution Autavia dial (last of the screw back cases). I cannot help wondering if there were possible plans to make an Autavia without a bezel similar to the Carrera and Camaro from mid to late 1960's. I guess we can only surmise some 40 years after the fact.
This dial came from the EU but strangely enough I have been offered the same dial from an Australian watchmaker (see second picture). This one is missing the raised marker at "6" so I am less inclined to buy it simply because I have the complete dial. If anyone is interested in the second one let me know.
regards
Paul
