REMINDER -- Scan Day / POSTER DAY

Just a quick reminder that this Monday is our first Scan Day to produce a Chronocentric / OnTheDash Poster. Copied below is the original announcement, from several days ago.

So go through your files and select your favorite photos or get out your cameras and fire away.

Remember -- we are trying to capture the Chronocentric / OnTheDash guys and their favorite watches. Submit the photos that are special to you!!

Thanks,

Jeff

Several weeks ago, I experimented with a software program that allows you to create posters / collages by assembling multiple images. Playing around for just a few minutes yielded this poster (shown in a much smaller size than the original) - - -

With this introduction, let this serve as an announcement that we would like to produce the very first Chronocentric / OnTheDash Discussion Forum Poster (to be referred to as the "Poster").

Here's how we will do it:

  • We will have two Scan Days when we will ask our readers to submit their favorite Heuer photos
  • These Scan Days will be Monday, April 26th and Monday, May 3rd; we are selecting these dates to allow some time for our readers to select their favorite photos, take new photos . . . whatever. You can also feel free to submit your photos before or between those dates, just be sure to indicate that they are intended for the Poster.
  • When the photos have been submitted, our super-top-secret selection committee will make the choices and create the Poster
  • The finished Poster will be available through OnTheDash in a variety of formats and file sizes
  • Our readers will then be able to do with it as they see fit -- 20 inches by 30 inches to put on the wall; 4 by 6 for the corner of your desk; 800 pixels by 600 pixels for wallpaper; iron-on for a T-Shirt . . . the possibilities are virtually endless!!
  • You must own the copyright to any photos that you submit; by submitting your photos, you agree to the inclusion of your photos in the Poster.

Here are a couple of thoughts, as you begin thinking about the photos that you may want to submit:

  • The Poster will be "about" the Chronocentric / OnTheDash readers and their watches. We are not trying to produce the definitive history of Heuer timepieces; rather, we are trying to produce a Poster that is for and about our readers. Our favorite photos of our favorite watches . . . not necessarily a collection of the the most representative Heuers.
  • So be thinking how you want to be represented on the Poster. Which chrono will mark your spot / be your icon in this collection? What favorite photo tells your favorite story?
  • If you don't have your own photos, you can "nominate" other people's photos for inclusion. Think of the very best photos from AMH, Bruce, Chris, David, Jim, J.H., Ralf, Stewart, TAG-Heuer and all our other great photographers [ my apology to all the guys I missed ] , and nominate one or two for inclusion in the Poster.
  • I am guessing that we will have 25 or 30 photos in the Poster. We will try to select something from everyone, but that may not be possible. Maybe we will have enough photos for Posters Two, Three and Four??

Please feel free to post any other suggestions or reactions to this Poster project. Who knows -- maybe this one will be the first of a series, with various themes for each poster. We can improvise and adapt as we move forward with this idea.

Thanks,

Jeff
