Thanks, Paul, for the story and the amazing photo.
So here's a question for you: Is the reference number on the case "15640" or perhaps "11630"? We have seen instances in which he Skippers have the ordinary Autavia reference numbers marked on the cases, and I am wondering what we might see in the 313xxx range?
Thanks again,
Jeff

: Another excellent piece of work on yet another of the vintage Heuer
: models. My compliments to the team.
: Here is my Skipper, 1st execution 15640 with blue dial and early
: serial number 3135xx. It came to me from the original owner and
: an appropriate back-story. While sailing off the coast at Hythe
: (Kent), which is just down the road from me, he got caught in a
: storm and almost capsized. During the worst of it his newly
: acquired Heuer Skipper was torn off his wrist and fell into the
: ocean. He wrote and complained to the company telling them that
: the band supplied with his watch was not suitable or fit for
: purpose causing him to loose his watch while sailing. They
: supplied him with a new watch on this steel bracelet not free
: but at cost which he was satisfied with. So if anyone is after a
: similar watch on a band there is one sitting on the ocean floor
: off the coast of Hythe.
: Regards
: Paul
