Congrats Jeff et al on the Skipper table, nice to see one of the unsung Heuer heroes getting a bit of the limelight. Coincidentally, I got an interesting Skipper delivery earlier this week.

This has been one of my long time grail watches. It was my number one target in Arno's auction but that was one of (many) that went for super strong prices (above $10,000 for this version of the Skipper). I fell out of the bidding pretty early on and didn't chase it. I was sort of resigned to not ever finding such a good example again. Then early one morning a couple of weeks ago, I found one on an ebay, buy-it-now. The pictures were not that clear, and the price was not super cheap but it was a decent market price (unless you think $10k is market price), I gambled and pressed that button. I had a good feeling about it, but you never know....

Then this arrived in the mail: everything I had hoped and more. It it is not quite as good as the Bonham's one but not far off. Just a few clumsy opening marks on the back, but everything good otherwise, even original strap and bracelet.

So as they say "you can't always get what you need, but if you try sometimes....."
