Maybe I am off-base here, but one possible reason I see for this jump is that I have noticed more and more people throwing some dash timers into a restoration project as sort of a cool "period accessory" for their vintage car. So it's now like another line item on a high 5 figure or even 6 figure restoration bill. Or a cool "cherry on top" once the resto is complete. I just notice at car shows I seem to see more of those timers in cockpits than in past years so that people who view the car will be like "Oooh this one must have real race history!"
: Upon closer inspection, I see that the Rally-Master
: "pair" consists of a Monte Carlo and Master Time that
: have an age difference of at least five years (older Monte Carlo
: with newer Master Time). Oh well, there's some value in the
: little yellow box (which is from the earlier era) . . . but
: probably not $3,000 of value.
