The watch is back from the watchmaker!
There were more issues than I realized: It had rusted under the dial at some point. The pallet was incorrect. The balance cock was from another movement (it had 3 alignment pins, whereas the movement only had holes for 2). Needed a couple new jewels, a screw, click spring, and mainspring. Now it is up and running after 30+ years!
I ended up buying an old-style Carrera strap from jurgensgermany.com with the Heuer buckle that I think suits the watch well.
Thank you to everyone here, especially Darren, for all the advice, information and help! Without your help the watch would probably still be in a plastic box, tucked away in a drawer for another 30 years.
