Good fun today, visiting the world of American pocket watches, to help a friend learn about a pocket watch that he had recently inherited. Amazing to see how different these watches are from what we deal in, but how the information flows so well through a wonderful discussion forum . . . just like this one. In a few hours, I learned a lot about this watch and about the way watches were sold, in the early 1900s.
How amazing that 100 years ago customers could walk into the local jeweler, select the case and dial, choose the preferred grade of movement, and walk out with the watch that met suited their preferences.
Here's the watch, along with the thread providing information about the watch -- http://mb.nawcc.org/showthread.php?t=77360
