Re: New Carrera Mk 3
In Response To: Re: New Carrera Mk 3 ()

Hi Mark,

Yes, probably 80-85% of the brush finish has gone - its not fully polished so I can live with it and see about getting it re-brushed when I get it serviced. This is proving a real pain at the moment because in Dubai (where I live) there is an issue with shipping mechanical devices out of the country - I can receive, but not send. So I need to get to UK, send to someone like Abel and then get it back here. So for now, i'll live with a bit of over zealous polishing!

Totally agree, they do take some getting used to. I think its partly to do with the fact that the lug width and therefore strap size is so small (18mm) for a watch that is ever so slightly wider than the MkII. But on the whole, I'm liking it - it could not be mistaken for a contemporary watch and is very much of its day, which I rather like.

One thing that worried me, but I have since discovered is consistent with other watches, is that the vertical lines that appear where the CdG finish merges into the next panel seem to be oddly spaced. The 'Carrera' script and Heuer shield seem slightly lined up more to the left line than the right. I'm not sure if its an optical illusion, but the 'Carrera' and Heuer are obviously in the middle of the face, but not in the middle of the middle panel.

Thrilled with it, and even more excited that I will get to see it improve when I get lumed, and brushed at some point.

Cheers!
