Alex:
It seems that the decision to relume this Chronomatic Autavia worked out well. It was purchased on eBay for just over $7K (February 2007), and then sold through Bonhams for $46K (December 2010). This watch was one of the "posters" for the auction, and received worldwide attention. I imagine that the bright lume made the watch look better to those viewing the poster, catalog, book, videos, etc.
As "purists", we can choose to keep our watches in original / as found condition. Maybe this is the right approach for some of us, at least with our "keepers". But from the perspective of a seller, this decision to relume the watch seems to have been prudent.
Thoughts? Opinions? Approaches?
Jeff
