Hi fellow collectors
Read through the whole posting. Your help is needed.
The Autavia compressor-case (or snap-back) exists in two variants using two different bezels. The difference is in the case to bezel retaining ring diameter and of cause in the corresponding bezel inner diameter.
On this photo you see the difference on the case:
Top: Small diameter (Autavia 7863 – sn 138502)
Bottom: Large diameter (Autavia 7763 – sn 112048)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On this photo you see the difference on the bezel:
Left: Small diameter (Autavia 7863 – sn 138502)
Right: Large diameter (Autavia 7763 – sn 112048)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here en face:
Left: Small diameter (Autavia 7863 – sn 138502)
Right: Large diameter (Autavia 7763 – sn 112048)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
........ and here are the dimensions:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Your help is needed to determine:
- Is it the small or the large bezel ring that came first (Mk 1)
- When was the change from Mk1 to Mk 2. Year and sn.
- Which compressor-case Autavias used what case (I know that the 2446C used both)
- What about Skipper, Solunagraph and Mareograph (and others?)
- Are there other differences between Mk 1 and 2. Two case producers?
Please prise off the bezel and send me this info:
- What type of Autavia or derivatives
- Small or large bezel ring
- Serial number
- Picture of watch
Mail me at peter@watchsite.dk
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As a bonus of this project we will get a lot of serial numbers that Jeff can use in the “Coming Soon (?) - Vastly Improved Autavia Reference Table” that is .
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks in advance
Peter, Denmark
