Team:
I have had a couple of e-mail messages about a current eBay listing of a Heuer / Abercrombie moonphaes chronograph. In the description, I am quoted as saying that this is the only sample of this watch that I have, etc., etc.
For the record, let me confirm that I did exchange e-mail messages with the seller and did indicate to him that I had never seen another sample of this model. So yes, that makes it "rare". But I am also of the opinion that these watches were "white elephants", failing to be successful as either Heuers or Abercrombies. The movement is a derivative of the 77xx series, and many would say that the watch is just plain ugly.
This Heuer / Abercrombie was bid to $610 in an auction that ended last week. Interestingly, an almost identical Universal Geneve model was bid to this exact same price ($610), in an auction that ended a few days ago.
Yet another excellent example of one of my favorite collecting mottos, "Don't confuse scarcity for value".
