Stewart,
Thanks for the detailed response. The 11630 MH process you described below did you fit this to a 'straight' 11630 model?

David

: Davy,

: I have experience of these guys.. what annoys me is that if they
: paid more attention to what they were producing they would get
: vastly more sales, I even offered my services, saying I could
: offer advice, exact measurements etc.

: This is the sum of my experience:

:
: The 11630 GMT Inserts

: These don't fit, they are sized to fit 1163, so aren't wide enough.

: The 1163 inserts (Tachy) seem to be a good match, although I
: haven't actually tried to fit one.

: The 11630 'Flat with pip' MH Inserts
: These are very good, but they don't just slot in.
: Unlike the originals, they are very thin, so care has to be taken
: when modding them to fit.
: This is the process I went through to get a perfect fit... (I'm
: right handed)..

: (leave the protective plastic on during the modding - be careful
: not to damage the upper surface)

: They are fractionally too wide, so you will need to very gently
: sand the outer edge down, held at a slight angle to not damage
: the upper printed surface on the edge. Slide the insert over a 3
: fingers (not little finger) & your thumb on your left hand,
: then rotate the insert gently, pressing lightly on some wet n
: dry paper on a flat surface, keep doing this until the edge is
: worn just right for a tight fit. (you may want to tape up your
: fingers to avoid cutting them). You need to be gentle, otherwise
: it will snap near the weak point where the pip is. (You want
: just the right amount of tightness to give enough tension to
: give the flat insert a slight coning/angled effect when fitted.

: When it is the correct size, turn the insert over and gently
: scratch away the glue holding in the pip. remove the pip by
: pushing from the underside.
: Cut a very thin piece of aluminium (from a coke/beer can), glue
: this in place underneath covering the pip hole, so the hole can
: take some lume. (see later on)

: Now for fitting.. get some waterproof/super strong industrial
: double sided bonding tape. cut thin arcs and attach to the
: bezel, you might need to double up the tape to get the correct
: height. Align the insert & fit in place. Allow the tape to
: bond for 24 hrs, now you can get the pip hole filled with lume.
