Using a tachymeter at sea ... ??
I've just read & enjoyed Jeff's onthedash.com article about the origin of tachymeter bezels, and the practical difficulties of using one on the road ( http://www.onthedash.com/thoughts/heuers-innovation-the-rotating-tachymeter-bezel-for-race-timing/ ).
But these difficulties are surely minor when compared to those faced by users of the new Breitling "Transocean" - which also incorporates a fixed tachy bezel! I am still trying to figure out how the designer thought that owners would find fixed mile markers when crossing the sea (either by ship or plane). I guess you could use GPS - but then if you had GPS, who would try & use a watch ...? Or have I overlooked something obvious?
