Ok... Last Sunday morning. I was browsing ebay and I see this listing for an Heuer Game-Master from the 80s? I read the description and I'm thinking ok looks interesting. While reviewing the listing I see pictures of an excellent condition stopwatch with it's original band and heuer buckle. When I looked deeper into the pictures I realized this watch had a Black Corfam strap and an Heuer Sun Buckle... I saw the asking price... and of course there were offers on it... I thought for a bit but then I pulled the trigger... 800 USD for a vintage stop watch with Black Corfam strap and Heuer Sun Buckle is a steal, at least that's what I thought to myself. I should also mention that there was another one listed from another seller for 750 USD, however, the buckle wasn't original but it was on a Corfam Strap, however, the condition of the watch wasn't comparable to this one so I jumped it...
After buying it, I emailed the seller to inform him I sent the payment. He then thanked me and told me a little history of the watch.
The story goes like this... The watch belonged to the gentleman's wife's grandfather who was a television producer in Ohio during the late 60s up until the early 80s where it is assumed that it was the time that he acquired this piece. And then he mentioned something else about it's origin... "Another tidbit on the watch's origin, her grandfather was the director of the Phil Donahue Show."
I received it today and in excellent form... Everything about it puts me heads over heels over it.
Enjoy the photos:
Cheers,
~George
