Bonhams Monaco, May 11: Let's Have a Look at Lots 7 and 8

With the Bonhams Monaco Auction coming this Friday, May 11th, I thought that it might be interesting to post and discuss some of the rare / interesting ones.

So what do we think if these two -- earlier screw-back and later snap-back Autavias? Both are the two-register models with the Tachymeter bezel.

Lot 7. Heuer. A stainless steel manual wind chronograph wristwatch Autavia, Ref 3646, Circa 1965. 17-jewel Valjoux 92 manual wind movement signed on bridge Heuer Leonidas, matt black dial with applied polished faceted hour markers with luminous dot tips, printed white outer minute divisions, polished baton hands with luminous inserts and white chronograph hand, silvered subsidiary dials at 3 and 9 for running seconds and 45 minute recording, polished steel tonneau shaped case with screw down back signed Heuer Leonidas inside, bi-directional rotating bezel with black 300 to 60 tachymeter scale, Heuer signed crown at 3 flanked by twin round chronograph pushers, fitted black leather strap and stainless steel Heuer buckle, case, dial and movement signed. 38mm.

    Estimate €960 - 1,400

Lot 8. Heuer. A stainless steel manual wind chronograph wristwatch Autavia, Ref:7763 T, Case No.132742, Circa 1968 17-jewel Valjoux 7730 manual wind movement, matt black dial, applied polished faceted hour markers with luminous dot tips, printed white outer minute divisions, dial signed Autavia Heuer below 12, polished baton hands with luminous inserts and white centre chronograph hand, silvered subsidiary dials at 3 and 9 for running seconds and 30 minute recording, polished steel tonneau shaped case with snap down back, bidirectional rotating bezel with black 400 to 60 tachymeter scale, Heuer signed crown at 3 flanked by twin chronograph pushers, fitted black leather strap, case, dial and movement signed. 40mm.

    Estimate €1,200 - 1,800

So what do you think of these watches? Condition and originality look OK? How about the estimates -- high / low / just about right? Which is your pick, as between these two?

Let me confirm that I will not be bidding on these two, and have no financial interest in the auction.
