Perhaps I am just spoiled by the amazing tricolor (A386) . . . the three huge registers are so pretty, and I really like the hands. Some might say that the decimal minutes and tachy scales are a bit busy, but I look at the watch and it all clicks.
On the day-date-month-moonphase (DDMM), they add three cut-out windows and discs, shrink (and bleached) the registers, and put on very ordinary hands. Just doesn't look good to me.
Of course, others may see it differently!! The value here is in it being a historic prototype, not its being (or not being) one of the most beautiful designs in history.
