It just seemed like a pocket watch Friday. This is an American watch made for Sears & Roebuck circa 1900 by the Rockford Watch Co of Rockford, IL. The Sears private label name for this watch was the "King Edward". It was a very high grade 21 jewel watch and was adjusted to 5 positions, Heat, Cold and Isochronism. RW Sears started his business selling watches and over the years, while most of the watches the company sold were somewhat less than great, there were some very high quality exceptions like the King Edward and the "Interstate Chronometer" made by the Illinois Watch company. The fancy dial on this watch was an option with numerals typical of the "Loyal Order of Woodman" a fraternal organization. It may or may not have left the factory with this dial but contemporary catalogs suggest that the watch could have been ordered with this dial.

Interestingly, Sears & Roebuck seems to have sold a "Poor Man's Heuer" under the private label name "Tradition" in the 1960/70s....so there is a connection of sorts. Anyway, I hope you can enjoy something a little different.
