Hi all watch friends
A few days ago I read about Manuels fantastic Zenith A 3817 and thought it was time to post pictures of my newly acquired Zenith A 386.
Back in May I visited Abel with a friend. (We were collecting his (my friends, not Abels) new BMW M3 in Hannover. A V8 420 HP high tech German car on the autobahns is just so much fun!!!!!!!)
I was there to collect a few Heuers that had been in for the Abel treatment, and while enjoying Abels hospitality and a glass of vine a lot of watches came on the table. It was then that I saw the A 386 in the flesh for the first time – love at first sight! As I was not able to persuade Abel or a Danish collector that has one, to part with their Zeniths the search started.
After some time it was actually Abel who put me in contact with a German who wanted to sell his A 386. As you can see it is looking really nice with a perfect ladder bracelet and as new dial and hands – and actually it was serviced by Zenith and got a service dial and probably new hands. The dial differs a little from the original, but then it is just so bright and striking so I will live with the unoriginality!
I always feel a little unfaithful buying non Heuer watches but this one fits so well with the Calibre 11 / El Primero / Seiko history that I guess I can justify it?
