Excellent to see the illustration from Abel, showing the different geometry of the cases.
It's worth keeping in mind that there were at least four batches of cases for the Viceroys, as Mark describes here -- http://www.onthedash.com/thoughts/serial-numbers-of-viceroy-autavias/.
I suspect that we would find several differences in the geometry between the batches, and even within the batches. Heuer also had two companies supplying the cases. I believe that for most of the watches that you mention -- Siffert and Orange Boy, for example -- there were identical Viceroy cases rolling off the production line at the same time.

: Jeff,
: This is my own observation.. so, I can't say that it's 'fact', but
: my 1163V Viceroy - it's lug area is not as high/tall as my 1163
: Orange Boy, my 1563, and Siffert that James loaned me.
: Maybe it's down to different case manufacturers. Maybe you can
: check yours?
