We know motor racing is a dangerous sport, and we've posted a few messages where drivers have sadly lost their lives.

So it's a nice change when we can mention one who came perilously close to losing his (75% of his blood lost en route to hospital after a T-bone crash in Champ Cars), had to have both legs amputated but still has a drive to succeed.

Congratulations to Alex Zanardi then, with his two gold Paralympics medals in the handbike events, and at the age of 45 to boot!
