Re: 917 road cars
In Response To: 917 road cars ()

Hello Foxy,

thanks for sharing. It is the right contribution at the
right time. The Porsche 917 K was the car driven by
Jo Siffert in the 70's.
The licence plate also fits perfectly to the 917 K. And
CW stands for the city of Calw, which is not too far
away from Stuttgart, the cradle of the 917 and the
"boxer city" in general.

Best wishes

: A friend has just sent me a picture of a 917 modified for road use.
: Two 917s were modified in period, this one was ordered by a
: German hotelier:

: and this one belonged to Count Rossi:

: There are a couple of companies now making decent replicas, you
: just have to fit a 911 gearbox and engine. Here are a couple I
: think are in Austria:

:

: I'd love one of those replicas, I'd have it in plain white like the
: German Hotelier's one!
