Hello Paul and Steve,
I am not familiar with this model but there are some examples of analogue watches with small LCD windows illustrated in the 1979 Heuer catalogue (available on this site).
When you take the back off be very, very careful not to disturb the LCD module - Heuer LCD modules are very easily damaged.
