in package handling in my experience. i've had boot prints, crushed boxes, opened packages, you name it. i have little faith in ups's ability to deliver a package without some sort of mishandling along the way. their online tracking is good though as well as the points you mentioned Jeff.
fedex on the otherhand has always been good to me as far as never losing a package or having one mistreated in any way. although i have noticed quite a few posts recently about a theft problem regarding high end watches. good online tracking system, but overall quite costly for the service compared to the other two.
usps, never had a problem other than slow and maybe some confusion on where the package was. no package ever lost, crushed opened, etc. plus the ablity to insure above $500.00 and possibly get it. the online tracking system is just about useless though. by the time it shows up online you already have received the package, lol. still usps is the winner hands down on insuring amount alone. just my experience and take on it.
