Much appreciated for your comments/suggestions. This certainly going to be a fun project if I also need to locate the back plate and the crown. The current crown is certainly too small.
I posted additional side view photos below. I use a ruler to measure and the thickness from the back plate to the glass is 1/4 inch.
Thank you again and I really hope I can put it back to life again. Suggestions are welcome.

: I've never noticed.. but it could be.. If comparing a later 1000
: dial model, then it might be - but a early 980.006 'fat boy'
: case is the same as a 844 (I believe).
