Thanks, Djayrom, for this excellent write-up.
And now the search is "on", for Bo Derek's orange Heuer . . . first place to look will be the vintage magazines that featured Bo!!
On the Autavia, I am aware of two of these, one in "friendly" hands and the other in unknown hands.

: I have a 980.005 as well and thought mine was in good shape, but
: yours is in outstanding condition. Its funny that you say orange
: is a bit of a theme with Heuer because that is one of the first
: things that attracted me to Heuer. The racing connections and
: the orange dial divers. Please tell us more about the orange
: dialed Autavia. This was a prototype? Do we have any idea how
: many there are? I have fallen in love with it and would trade my
: collection to have one!
: Eddie
: I love this thing and want to find one, if there is even more than
: one!
