I appreciate the kind words. Believe me, I am kicking myself more than gently. It was hard to drop the parcel for shipping when I knew I was leaving behind literally thousands of dollars. Buying and selling watches is a tenuous income for me and my family, with the wife unbelievably supportive for the past two years. But the reason I do it is that I love watches. I love hunting for them...travelling and meeting all sorts of people...finding out the history of each piece when possible...taking pictures..writing ads...and of course getting to wear them to test them out. I could have used the cash, to be sure. But you are right about it being a gentlemanly hobby (Or gentlepersonly. Though heavily skewed towards men, I have met some true female enthusiasts). If I start disrespecting that in favor of a few bucks, I may as well stop buying and selling altogether. It would suck the meaning out of why I love the job. At some point this morning, I started to get past my mistake and really get back to being excited for Amran. I can't wait for him to get the watch now...and to share the joy of his new find!
: Left some money on the table, offered forward profit to the buyer
: and you're still only gently kicking yourself for the research!
: I always like to think of watch collecting as a gentlemanly
: pursuit and posts like these are proof of that particular
: pudding.
