When we come to this IMHO some other features should be considered:one is that only with this design could the hour indices be all of the same length, which I think is an exquisite design and very rare too.
Furthermore the movement itself is not so small - and I remember talking about it to TH's head service master in Bienne who told me that fitting it in the Carrera 1964 re-edition was no small challenge, as the case it's much smaller than the Speedy's.
Finally the automatic version of some time ago (the Dubois-Depraz piggyback with continuous second at 3 o'clock subdial) was indeed available in a smaller case and the subdials were much more spaced out from one another. Of course its dial layout had to 'cut' the hour indices - to me it ruined it all completely, and I've hardly ever found a fan of that model.
The Speedmaster has a very peculiar dial, and I for one - and zillions of others as well - love it. Personally I find it the most beautiful design possible together with the Carrera re-edition with the same calibre. But as Mark says, it's personal tastes after all.
Cheers
