Well Darwin.. it was a 'suck it and see' type decision.. the aftermarket insert has an upward angle to it, unlike the flat OEM Heuer insert.. so I just asked James to fit the thickest they do - 4mm. The close up photos do exaggerate the height above the bezel.. it's approx. 1 to 1.3ish mm above the highest part of the insert, so not *that* pronounced. At the end of the day, a new glass is $2, so I'm not too worried about it.. it actually works really well in the flesh. Of course, there are other options - I originally thought about a beveled edge crystal - but they only do them in thinner sizes and I didn't want the bezel to be higher than the glass. I used the 4mm as a gauge, and it works (IMHO).
