Excellent topic for discussion!!
One quick observation: There is incredible passion, among the enthusiasts, for the El Primero movement, as such. The people who love this movement study every aspect of its history and all the technical details of the design, engineering, etc. The blueprints are framed and studied!!
On the Heuer side, we certainly have the enthusiasts loving the watches, but people don't seem to be worshiping the Caliber 11 / 12/ 14 / 15 movements, as such. The movement was a pragmatic solution that allowed the creation of some amazing watches, but I see less admiration for the movement, as such.
I am not really qualified to comment on what we see in the Breitling or Omega comminities.

: ....I still think that this is a good place to ask a basic watch
: question which can have both a qualitative and quantitative
: answer or a combination of both. So here goes....What is the
: best automatic chronograph with date movement ever designed and
: executed/sold. Jeff is wearing a new Tag El P. Is it the El
: Primero and its modern evolution or is it something more generic
: like the modern VJ or is it the new Omega with the Coaxial
: Escapement? Taking into account everything from serviceability
: to reliability to longevity to soul satisfaction...What say you?
