I must agree with your analysis, Paul . . . the "ultimate" ones probably came first, with all later derivatives never quite capturing the essence of the model.

While the white-on-white may be purest form, I probably would choose the black-on-black, if I could only keep one.

That's why they make chocolate and vanilla, right?
