: Jeff,
: this is my 1158S, serial 1742x9, just 10 watches far from the one
: auctioned, that seems all right to me in every particular.
:
: 1742xx has been the second batch of 100 watches produced of the
: 1158, there should be an other (the very first) batch of 100
: watches with Chronomatic dial an polished hands, we have seen
: just the dials from that watches as most should have been
: melted. The 1742xx cases feature the gold hallmark behind one
: lug and the serial/reference in recessed position respect the
: 'usual' later cases.
: The earlier 1742xx watches have the dial without onyx, single
: stripe markers, single stripe polished hands, while the late
: 1742xx have the configuration like the one auctioned (double
: stripe on hands and markers, onyx at 12).
: Here is one early 1742xx, the earliest 1158 we know, sold on ebay
: some years ago and now in Switzerland (these 3 1742xx we are
: talking are the earliest 1158 we know today)
:
:
: Obviously it's a fact that the 1158 Carrera has been produced in
: many batches of 100, then 200 or 300 watches, and the total
: production is for sure more than 1000 watches.
: Paolo
