Re: Heuer price *PIC*
In Response To: Heuer price ()

Hi Kendall,

: I am curious why the Kenyan air force Autavia sold for so much. It
: was in very rough condition. Is it an especially collectable
: model ?

Yes, the ref. 741.603 with "arabic" dial is one of the rarest Autavia models, military or not. Although rarity does not mean high value per se, a perfect piece is way more expensive than, for instance, a rather common Viceroy Autavia.

The realized price for this wreck sounds reasonable for someone who happens to have a better if not perfect dial. All other problems of the watch may be fixed at calculable costs. If this were my watch I would not make any compromises.

Furthermore, one or the other collector, me included, pays for the adventurous experience transforming a wreck into a full-blown beauty -- with the essential help of watchmaking specialists and artisans, of course.

: I grew up in the back seat of my fathers 911, an avid
: racer, Heuer dash timers ect. I have only recently started my
: collection and follow OTH with great interest and after what are
: you wearing Friday I feel very inadequate !

Absolutely no need to. This Friday thread was special, in quality as well as in quantity -- and we want to see what you like and wear.

Cheers,

Mick
