Quick Thoughts

Quick thoughts, posted below . . .

Hi Guys,

Can you please give me some help with this 18k Chrono.

My questions are:

-- how much do you think it would sell for, with supposedly original box and hang tag?

The entire category of pre-Carrera Heuer chronographs seems to be somewhat undervalued, compared with the Carrera, Autavia, Monaco, Montreal, etc. Whether it's the period (say, 1940s and 1950s) or the watches themselves, they just don't have the value of the 1960s and 70s models. Also, in the world of Heuers, gold is not well appreciated . . . really does not attract much of a premium over stainless steel. With that introduction, my guess is that this one sells in the $2,500 range, assuming good mechanical condition, clean movement, etc. This is something of a guess, as I have not followed these models closely.

-- is it very liquid? ie would it be fairly easy to sell at a reasonable price?

These can sometimes be difficult to sell, compared with the later models. If you bought it for $2,500, it might take some work to sell the watch for this same amount. These are not like the Carreras or Autavias, with a deep, liquid, almost commodity-like market.

-- do you think the dial is original?

Looks original to me.

Jeff
