relates somewhat to perceptual talent/differences

To a large extent I agree with the posting, especially as it relates to dealers who must move inventory and seem to adopt selective amnesia when it comes to a lot of important aspects of a watch. With vintage pieces, there are many variables in play; in fact you could say that the entire watch could and/or be subject to analysis. Take an Autavia. Between the bezel, dial, crown, markers, hands, etc., there is a lot to authenticate. Complicating things is that everyone has different levels of perception and ability to ferret out inconsistencies and other issues. When you factor in that most of these transactions occur remotely without the buyer and seller meeting, it is a miracle that so many deals come of at all.
