I believe you may be correct

: I don't know who or where you called Warren, but certainly speaking
: to a dealer or central office in the US won't reveal any
: results, they have little information of their vintage time
: pieces. I can't see how they could help you anyway over the
: phone!?!

: That's not to say that TAG Heuer don't have a keen interest in
: their history. Their vintage 'Brand Heritage' Dept is based in
: Switzerland, and is excellent. They are very interested in their
: history, and have poored millions into the TAG Heuer museum, and
: vintage department workshops. They have built up a wealth of
: knowledge. If you look at the threads higher up on this forum,
: you will see that 30 odd of Heuer collectors from this forum
: have just come back from the Heuer Summit, hosted by TAG Heuer
: and their Heritage Dept, and Jack Heuer. Needless to say, they
: do hold extensive records.

: It's fair to say that the Golden Hours pocket watches are very well
: documented, and unfortunately, the pocket watch you have isn't
: part of that range.
: Just to answer your queries.. old Swiss pocket watches can be
: picked up for next to nothing, they were made by the shed load,
: so aren't rare.
: As for the case, I don't know if it's gold or not - you said there
: were no markings, so I don't know. (any assay markings? - if so,
: there will be a date marking) But, unfortunately, it's probably
: fair to say that it's not genuine. What is more of a bummer, is
: that someone tried to make a box to look genuine too, and
: included genuine booklets. This isn't a case of an innocent
: refinished dial, but someone trying to hookwink an innocent
: buyer. so, I'm really really sorry about that.

I believe you may be correct in your assessment. I am not that bummed about it. Most of the fun in these old watches is the investigation. If I had bought it myself I may feel differently. Thanks again for the through help. Warren
