i think you're making good choices.
1) you almost 'get' a chronomatic ;-)
2) you make a sensible consideration about how to wear a valuable bit of kit.
LEATHER would be my choice. Thick rugged 'boot' leather...
David sent me one a few years back for my speedy. Perfect esthetically pleasing combo. With an omega buckle as a finishing touch.
Don't skimp on the pins. Those few dollars might make a difference one day.
