Would Not Say That We Have "Forsaken" Dashboard Timers

I would not say that we -- as a community -- have forsaken dashboard timers. Our conversations follow the interests of those who post here, and we still have the occasional message about dashboard timers. Go back to the origins of the forum ten years ago, and I would guess the proportion of discussions about chronographs / dashboard timers / stopwatches has been relatively constant.

I would say that the OnTheDash galleries covering the dashboard timers are very close to complete; there are not many models left to be discovered / not as many interesting ones found in the sock drawers.

I believe that there is still considerable interest in the Heuer dashboard timers; prices seem stable (or even strong); but this has always been a much thinner, smaller market . . . a niche within a niche, perhaps. I am guessing that for every 100 people who might be interested in the Heuer chronographs, there might be five to ten dashboard enthusiasts, but they do have the same passion, interest in the heritage, etc. Perhaps there's just not as much to say about them, and there are fewer people who are interested. Still, saying that we have "forsaken" them seems too harsh.

: I was chatting with David Scothorn this morning and it occurred to
: me that there is rarely, if ever, any discussion about dash
: timers anymore. This wonderful place has transitioned from On
: The Dash to On The Wrist.

: While I enjoy Heuer watches, my first love is the dash timers. Yet
: they don't seem to hold much interest for people here anymore.
: Have they fallen out of favor? Has everything to be said about
: them already been said? Do people here just no longer care much
: for dash timers?

: I'm rather sad that OTD has forsaken Heuer dash timers, but then,
: perhaps that's just me and the time for dash timer lovers has
: come and gone. Since this was the place for discussion, and it's
: move on, perhaps dash timers are dead and those of us who still
: care more for the dash timers than the wrist watches are just
: dinosaurs.
