A Niche Within a Niche

I certainly didn't mean to be harsh about it, but perhaps the problem is, as you say, its a "niche within a niche," and OTD was the place where that niche within a niche existed. There are other places for wrist watches, even Heuer tool watches though OTD remain the primary community, but there is no other home for Heuer dash timers. Maybe that's as it should be, since it is a niche within a niche.

On the other hand, I have some doubts about the vitality of the market for dash timers. What's happening on eBay with Johns Watch recirculating the same timers for maybe a year now isn't very good for the market. It gives the impression (to me, at least) that there is no market for them, as they are readily available and there are no takers. I realize that the problem is his price was too aggressive and they are now stale, but it still leaves an unpleasant odor.

Unlike David, my interests in dash timers remain focused exclusively on the Heuers rather than other makes and homage pieces. It's not that they aren't nice, but they just don't strike me as "real," which is what makes it worthwhile for me. But then, my interests are mine and no one need share them, and each of us is fully and legitimately entitled to find interest in whatever interests them. So, this is my question, and not at all a criticism of OTD or anyone here.

Best, and thanks for providing this forum for Heuers,
Scott
