Re: Whatever Happened To "On The Dash?"

Please let me predicate this response by saying this is completely tongue in cheek. The Heuer Autavia dash timer (pre Monte Carlo) with the Valjoux 340 motor would be a MB 300SL (oh hell, why not include this) with fitted luggage, belly pans and Rudge wheels...or... a Maserati 450s with a Behra or Fangio competition history if it were a car. You used to be able to open a Road and Track or Competition Press and find these cars for little money due only to lack of interest and irrelevance to contemporary times. Where these timers are now.

Sooner or later the Villa d'Este boys are going to discover the embodiment of everything that attracts in the vintage sports car world can be held in your hand and contemplated in between business meetings or phone calls from the auto restoration shop in another country asking for more money. A mechanical and aesthetic masterpiece from the period that costs less than shims for your oversized cam carrier bore (read: non stock, non original and expensive!)

Be quiet!
