The Autavias (the 1969-1970s generation and the 2002/03 re-editions) are the best timepieces around to wear NATO straps on because the lugs are short and the straps fit the case perfectly.
I knew I'd wear NATO straps on my Autavia re-editions (the 'Jo Siffert' and the 'Orange Boy' re-interpretations) even before buying them; they were sold with quite an interesting & vintage-inspired metal bracelet, but I guess the case with crown on the left/metal bracelet combination was 'misunderstood' and contributed to a feeble commercial success of the Autavia re-edition. My Autavia re-edition steel bracelets remain untouched, maybe one day I'll try them on because they deserve it...
I still think the Autavia re-edition dials (especially the 'Jo Siffert' opallescent one with contrasting black counters and blue touches), made by TAG Heuer's dial company Artecad with Orlando Loureiro as product manager, are the best ever in the brand's history.
Thanks for sharing the pic, Jeff; I still have many of the sort!
