Re: Special Order, Eric?
In Response To: Special Order, Eric? ()

Hi Stewart,

It is a very interesting and compelling piece. Truly beautiful in person. No one I have spoken to has ever seen another like it, so it is hard to say. It seems that the individual who had it was definitely a timekeeper of some sort for Ford and with racing, so perhaps he specially ordered it from Heuer so he could have a basic stopwatch on his wrist. Perhaps it is a unique piece.

The Heuer shield on the dial is slightly imperfect in that the U does not line up perfectly with the bottom of the shield, but the printing across the entire dial does look right to me. The registers are definitely Singer registers in original condition.

I followed the discussion about the watch and didn't comment only because I wanted to have it in hand before saying anything. I was also worried someone might dishonorably contact the seller and offered more for it, as has been done in the past with recently concluded eBay auctions.

It was quite a find and this kind of thing is keeps me hunting for vintage watches and, in particular, vintage Heuers.

Best regards,
Eric

: Very interesting Eric.. I remember that one being on ebay, and we
: discussed it here.. we wondered if it was a standard Carrera
: 7753 underneath.
: Certainly very interesting what you say about the dial.. I'm
: wondering if it was a special order watch for Ford? And the
: subsequent design connection with the current Hauer Carreras
: make this watch/time extremely interesting.
