In Response To: Antiquorum = Autavia fever? ()

Yes, it will be interesting to follow this auction. I have always been interested in the power of these "estimates", and how they may influence the price ultimately achieved in the auction. $5,000 to $8,000 would seem to be optimistic, at least in the absence of what we saw a few weeks ago.

How strange to see the mismatched minute and hour hands, with the poor quality re-lume. Some nice aging on the dial and bezel, but you have to wonder where they found these hands.

Being as the now 'infamous' Autavia sold for $25k (in NYC I think).. there is a late 2446C H up for auction at the next NYC auction.

It's not in perfect shape, and minute hand looks to be off an earlier 2446C, and both 'time' hands have been poorly relumed.

Nice bezel though.

So.. their estimate... a hopeful $5000 - $8000. (+ 25%ish obviously)

Will be very interesting to see what it sells for, whether people 'not in the know' believe this estimate and go for it.
