I probably wouldn't have gone with that bezel either, but that's personal choice. You've done a great job with the hands - and you know exactly what they are, it's your watch so there are no problems with disclosure - I don't really get any fuss about it.
For me, it's along the same lines as someone who chose to do this with their Testarossa:
Not to everyone's taste perhaps, but it was their car and they chose what to do with it. And actually, I quite like it with the side strakes removed... :)
